I hope all parents would consider letting their kids ride bikes to school. Call if you want a safety check for a kid’s bike. Remember to wear helmets and stay safe!

I know that I am thankful for all I have, I hope the holidays find you all (the few of you that find me on the internet) happy and healthy.

Please call if you have questions or need help with your bicycle, even if it is just a quick question about how to change a tube. I am here to help.

I have a friend flying in from the East Coast to ride Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of Turkey Day weekend, call or check out the ride board over at TucsonMTB.com and look for the Thanksgiving weekend post.

Go ahead and ride, the weather is great. I had the chance to ride over the new overpass at Twin Peaks. It was a nice little hill from Continental Ranch all the way up to Dove Mountain, took about 20 minutes to ride to the top. I am going to try and do this several times a week, to see if I can get it down into the 15 minute range. Tons of great mountain biking out there as well. I will try to post pics and report from a couple of rides coming up with a friend from out of town.

Night Rides

As the weather heats up, night riding is the way to go. One thing to be careful of is the rattlesnakes. I do have extra lights, so if you are interested, shoot me an email and we can ride. Sweetwater, Starr Pass, Fantasy Island, and Casa Grande Mountain is the best places to start. There are lots of possibilities, don’t limit your riding to just when the sun is up, the moon is awesome in the desert. Beginners may find that night riding is easier, there are fewer things to distract you when you have to focus on the lights you are using.

Riding and such

I have had a bunch of chances to ride lately, thanks to my awesome wife. What makes her more special is that she is pregnant. She has let me try and bank some rides for when the baby comes. There is a plan afoot in my brain that I might ride really early in the morning, after a morning feeding (like 5am) this summer, someone make me stick to it and make a plan with me! Feel free to email or call if you want to try and ride, road or mountain. I have put in lots of hours at Sweetwater Preserve lately, so I know it well. There is so much riding here in southern AZ, you can’t help but wonder why more people don’t live here.

I got out to ride with one of the best trail builders in the southwest. He wrote it up for TailWinds, the magazine/newpaper for the group that puts on El Tour de Tucson and other stuff. You can check out the link here, it was a cool ride, but a spot called Swecoville will put a hurtin’ on your legs and turn you into Pinochio (wooden legs, get it?). I keep riding Sweetwater Preserve (map), if you want a tour guide there, drop me a line, I am almost always game!

24 Hours in the Old Pueblo Report

Well, my team with 2 brother-in-laws and a friend finished in the top 100 of our category. We went with the plan of riding and having fun, and that was accomplished. I got a chance to see a lot of friends from SDMB and the bike world I only get to see at this event and the 4th Ave. bike swaps. I will try to post pictures later.
